About the Series

'CleanTech & The Green Economy'
 
The first event 'CleanTech & The Green Economy' will focus on the success stories of Companies involved in renewable energy, sustainable transport, biofuels, waste management & environmentally-friendly cement.

The event will be hosted by Ainsley Hefferan, Head of the Renewable Energy Group at Beauchamps Solicitors. He has over ten years experience advising clients in the renewable energy sector. Ainsley and his team have advised many of the leading Irish and International renewable energy companies including SSE Renewables, RES Group, Finavera Renewables and Wavebob.
 
Ian Simington, NTR, Peter Seymour, Ecocem & Olivier Vander Elst, GreenAer, three CleanTech experts, will share their insights into why the Low-carbon sector is one of the few growing areas of the Irish Economy.
 
About the Speakers
  • Ian Simington is Chief Executive, Solar Division at NTR plc. Prior to joining NTR in 2007, Ian worked with McKinsey and Company for seven years and in construction management with John Paul Construction and Balfour Beatty. He has degrees in Civil Engineering from University College Dublin and Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, builds and runs green energy and resource-sustaining businesses. Founded in 1978, NTR has evolved from being a developer and operator of infrastructure in Ireland to an international developer and operator of renewable energy (wind, solar and ethanol) and sustainable waste management businesses in the USA and Europe. The Group employs over 2000 people.
  • Peter Seymour is Business Development Director of Ecocem (Ireland) and is a Civil Engineer by profession. Ecocem Ireland is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ecocem Materials which operates further major cement manufacturing facilities at Moerdijk in The Netherlands and at Fos-sur-Mer in the south of France. Ecocem is a European leader in the production and use of GGBS (Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag) cement, a superior cement that produces quality concrete whilst minimising the environmental impacts of cement production. The Irish manufacturing plant is located on the South Docks in Dublin Port, and has been supplying its environmentally friendly cement to the Irish construction industry since 2004.
  • Olivier Vander Elst co-founded GreenAer Mobility in 2007 as Ireland's Electric Vehicle experts based in Dublin. Olivier has a BSc (Hons) in Marketing from Lancaster Management School and a MSc in Marketing Practice from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He has a particular interest in the electrification of transport, bringing about visible change in the area of personal mobility. His experience to date has been focused on bringing to market the REVA electric car in Ireland as well as a variety of electrically-assisted bicycles including the award-winning GoCycle. GreenAer Mobility Ltd is the leading distributor of electric cars in Ireland and is the exclusive dealer in this country of the REVAi, which is the best-selling electric car in the world. Their supporting products include eco personal transport solutions including electrically-assisted bicycles.
