Libeskind Celebrates Formal Appointment for Dublin Grand Canal Theatre Project

Visionary architect and urban designer, Mr Daniel Libeskind was in Dublin on Thursday, 23rd October 2008 to celebrate his formal appointment as architect for the Grand Canal Theatre, in the Dublin Docklands.
Daniel Libeskind brings his world-renowned experience to the design of a 2,000-seat performing arts centre that will form the centrepiece of Grand Canal Square. Work, which commenced in September 2007, is due for completion in 2010. Mr. Libeskind’s legal representation was managed by Bruno Herbots of Beauchamps Solicitors. Mr. Libeskind is famous as a leading figure in the design world for his cutting-edge cultural, commercial, educational and residential projects. Amongst his major achievements to date are master-planning the redevelopment of New York’s World Trade Centre site and the design of iconic buildings such as the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Tangent Hyundai HQ in South Korea, Italy’s Fiera Milano and the Creative Media Centre at the City University of Hong Kong. Commenting on his visit, Mr Libeskind said, "I'm never long enough in Dublin, because I love the city". |
