Projects and Infrastructure Lawyers

Our Projects, Infrastructure and Energy (PIE) team is key to the growth of the firm and is currently seeking to recruit lawyers at all levels from one year PQE to Senior Associate to help us achieve our objectives and keep up with demand for our services. 

The PIE team is collegiate and supportive, with a strong market reputation and top-tier clients. We are currently advising on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country. The team is led by 7 Partners who specialise in the areas of Public Procurement, Construction, Energy, Planning, Environmental and Project Finance law. 

We are seeking lawyers with a specific interest in or experience of advising on Public Procurement law, Construction law and/or delivering infrastructure, renewable energy and technology projects, including the avoidance and resolution of disputes. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious individuals seeking to play a leading role in tackling the key infrastructural challenges of our time - from energy transition to the housing crisis and across all sectors including transport, utilities, healthcare and data centres.

It is not a pre-requisite to have experience of both Procurement and Construction law.

We would expect a successful candidate with experience of Procurement Law to become involved in:

  • Advising public and private sector clients on all aspects of Public Procurement law;
  • Advising public bodies on procuring major public sector projects, including advising on development of tender documentation, conducting procurement processes, debriefing bidders and contract modifications;
  • Advising private sector tenderers on bidding for public projects and contracts;
  • Advising on contract drafting and negotiation;
  • Advising clients (public and private sector) on the enforcement of the procurement rules, both in defending and initiating procurement challenges;
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments in the field of Public Procurement law.

We would expect a successful candidate with experience of Construction Law to become involved in:

  • Advising public and private sector clients on all aspects of construction law and project delivery, including regulatory and health and safety advices;
  • Drafting and negotiating documentation relating to the development and construction of major public and private sector projects;
  • Drafting and negotiation of all standard form construction contracts (RIAI, FIDIC, NEC etc.) and related documentation such as professional appointments, collateral warranties and performance security;
  • Advising clients at all stages of project life cycle, from contract negotiation and construction stage through to operations, maintenance and management of day to day issues on site;
  • Claims advice and dispute avoidance/mitigation strategies;
  • Dispute resolution through adjudication, conciliation, mediation, expert determination and ultimately court and arbitration proceedings, as required;
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments in the field of Construction law.

Experience / Skills:

The ideal candidates will have some experience of advising in the areas of Public Procurement and/or Construction law however NQs with a strong and genuine interest in these areas will also be considered. 

Candidates should be highly motivated team players, with a real desire to become expert in their field and work at the highest level; they should have strong organisational and interpersonal skills as well as a good work ethic, energy, and enthusiasm. 

Candidates should also have:

  • an ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • strong academic record
  • excellent technical and drafting skills, with real attention to detail
  • High level of commercial and business awareness
  • A proactive, measured and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
