About Darren
Darren is an Associate in the Housing team within our Commercial Real Estate Department, specialising in the delivery of social, affordable and cost rental housing. He advises local authorities, state agencies, Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs), developers and private clients on all legal aspects throughout the lifecycle of property transactions and projects. Darren has particular expertise in housing and development projects and regularly advises on acquisitions. He acts for a number of leading AHBs, the Housing Agency, local authorities and developers, providing commercially focused advice.
Relevant Experience
- Approved Housing Bodies in the acquisition and financing of social housing units within multi tenure residential developments, advising on CALF and CREL funded transactions, construction documentation, security documentation and financing arrangements.
- Various local authorities on the bulk acquisition of turnkey and Part V residential units within newly constructed developments, including the acquisition and long term leasing of residential schemes, as well as the purchase of new build and second hand properties.
- Housing Agency on the acquisition and sale of residential property portfolios for onward transfer to Approved Housing Bodies in support of their social housing initiatives.
- Acted for property developers in the acquisition of greenfield development sites and advised on subsequent disposals, including the sale of residential units to AHBs as part of social and affordable housing schemes.
- Acted for a range of private investors and institutional landlords in relation to landlord and tenant matters, providing advice on leasing, asset management and tenancy issues.
