On Tuesday 2 September we were delighted to welcome over 450 delegates to the Beauchamps Housing Conference, Momentum Matters | Accelerate 2025, at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
We were honoured that James Browne T.D., Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, joined us to deliver a compelling keynote address before conference chair Fidelma McManus, Partner & Head of Housing at Beauchamps, was joined by Kate English, Deloitte Ireland's Chief Economist, to set the scene for our panel discussions and discuss why Momentum Matters for housing delivery.
Afterwards, Fidelma McManus chaired two discussions featuring a stellar line up of industry experts. First, Stephen Garvey, CEO at Glenveagh, Aoife Watters, CEO at Respond, Martin Whelan, CEO at The Housing Agency and Pat Farrell, CEO at Irish Institutional Property offered crucial insights into how placing viability at the core of planning and delivery can supercharge housing supply - along with the policies, investment and partnerships needed to make it a reality.
A second panel session examined how transformative the National Development Plan Review 2025 is with contributions from John Coleman, CEO at The Land Development Agency, Angela Ryan Senior Manager in the Asset Management & Sustainability Directorate, Uisce Éireann, Brian Tapley, Head of Customer & Project Delivery, South, ESB Networks and Paul Sheridan, Director, Main Contracting, Construction Industry Federation. These industry experts discussed the opportunities, challenges and real-world impact of the National Development Plan review and what it means for housing, infrastructure and delivery over the next decade.
A sentiment poll revealed that the majority of our audience do not believe 300,000 new homes can be delivered by 2030 as a result of the system's inability to scale quickly enough due current capacity restraints. What's more, further engagement offered insights into the expansion of viability supports for private and mixed-tenure developments as well as the effectiveness of the National Development Plan Review 2025 for housing delivery
