Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) are a vital component of Ireland’s infrastructure strategy, enabling the delivery of essential public services through long-term collaboration between the public and private sectors. In recent years, PPPs have played a central role in sectors such as transport, housing, education, and justice.
According to the National Development Plan (updated in July 2025), the Irish Government is committed to unprecedented levels of investment - to secure Ireland's future, unlock housing, upgrade water and energy infrastructure, deliver more roads and provide better public transport. The Government plans to spend €275 billion on infrastructure between 2026 and 2035, through Exchequer and non-Exchequer funding. PPPs will continue to be an important aspect of national strategy for meeting Ireland's infrastructure requirement.
Our PPP team is recognised for its expertise and experience in advising domestic and international clients on Irish project. Our lawyers have a track record of supporting public sector bodies and private companies across all stages of PPP procurement and delivery.
Delivering successful PPP projects requires a deep understanding of the legal, commercial, and operational complexities that underpin long-term infrastructure contracts.
Our lawyers have experience of working closely with public authorities on the design and procurement of a number of major PPP projects which have achieved financial close. We have also advised private sector bidders on tenders for such projects, assisting with contract dialogue/negotiation and putting in place necessary sub-contracting, project finance and corporate arrangements.
We aim to provide pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice that helps our clients to achieve their objectives most effectively. We seek to simplify what might appear complex, adding value at every stage of the procurement process and beyond. We combine legal precision with strategic insight - helping our clients to assess, reduce and mitigate commercial and legal risk and obtain long-term project success.
Our PPP team collaborates with specialists in construction, project finance, planning, real estate and corporate law to ensure our clients benefit from a comprehensive service at all stages of the project lifecycle.
